Spirit Lake

Six teenagers from Northern California are assigned a group project for their sophomore English class. Little do they know, this project will literally take them on a journey out of this world. Cantelia appears much like Earth, until the teens realize magic is as plentiful as the danger surrounding them. A dark and evil ruler has placed a curse on the tribal people of Sikuku Island—the same island where the teens have been transported. Now, they must help the tribal people break the curse if they ever want to see their own planet again. Alex and her companions quickly learn that there is so much more beyond their comfortable lives in Pollock Pines and its legendary Spirit Lake.

The Wrong Fairy Tale

Being a hero is not such an easy job after all.

It’s junior year, and Alex and her friends are just trying to survive high school: boring homework, detention, crushes…and a fateful journey through a portal to another planet—you know, the usual. Despite being average California teenagers, this group of six finds themselves on a return trip to the strange land of Cantelia, where their Spirit Guide, Goden, has sent them. This time, they appear near the Alfaran Forest: a place, where, once again, many inhabitants claim these kids are the Chosen Ones and that they will help to find a solution for ridding the forest of a new kind of horror.

Will the teens have the courage to fight the real enemy? Or will they be forever trapped on Cantelia?

New Book Release: The Teen Reader’s Journal

Happy Friday, all!

I’ve got some exciting news! I’ve been keeping this under wraps, but now I can let you all know that I’ve released a new book! It’s my third book and first work of non-fiction. Pretty freaking exciting! 🙂

Here are some pertinent details:

Title: The Teen Reader’s Journal

Genre: Non-fiction/Teen/Journal

Page Count: 186

By: Tamar Hela

Blurb: Designed with teen readers in mind, this journal is perfect for average to voracious readers. Challenge yourself to read a book a week in one year, or go at your own pace, with plenty of space for fifty-two books. Write your thoughts, questions, or revelations about the books you read. Be a literary artist and draw pictures in the doodle section. Be inspired by quotes from many great voices in literature, and keep track of all your favorites with the bonus pages in the back. For the book lover who has everything, this is the perfect addition to any library, and makes the perfect gift for a friend—or yourself.

I had a lot of fun writing and designing this journal, and I hope that lots of readers will find it useful. If you know of a young reader who likes to write about their reading experiences, this would make the perfect Christmas present! Or, it would make a great gift for the reader who is young at heart. 🙂

Inside, there are 52 spots to record books, with the idea that someone could set a goal to read a book a week in a year. There are also some really fun extras pages in the back, where readers can write things like a TBR (to be read) list, record their favorite book boyfriends/girlfriends, or even track who borrows their books. Fun, right?

So, what are you waiting for?! Grab a copy today on Amazon.com by clicking HERE.

You can also enter for a chance to WIN a copy from Amazon Giveaways by clicking HERE.

Be sure to add my new book to your TBR list on Goodreads by clicking HERE. There will also be a Goodreads giveaway for this title, beginning on 12/17. Stay tuned for the links.

Until next time, thanks for your support and happy reading!

What Do Fictional Characters Eat?

Hello, lovely readers!

I wanted to share a quick post with you all. Last week, I had the privilege of being a guest blogger over at “But What Are They Eating?” by Shelley Workinger. In the post, I talk about food in literature, and then address the food I made up in my own book, The Wrong Fairy Tale. This was a very different post for me—one that I’d never even thought about doing before—which made it all the more fun.

Take a look at my post by clicking HERE, and be sure to give Shelley’s blog some love. Hope you enjoy the post. 🙂
