Now Available: Protostar by Braxton Cosby

Hey, guys!

Remember when I did the cover reveal for Braxton Cosby’s Protostar? Well, the book is officially out today! Super exciting! I wanted to do a quick spotlight so ya’ll can pick up a copy for yourselves. 🙂

Here’s the synopsis:

WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE: LOVE OR DUTY? As the Torrian Alliance continues its age-old mission of hunting down Star-children, King Gregorio Derry reluctantly agrees to send his only son, William, to planet Earth on a mission to bring honor back to the Royal Family name. The target: Sydney, a young teenage girl, unaware of her alien heritage. When an unforeseen accident delays the assassination, William begins to realize a connection forming with Sydney and struggles to follow through with his orders. With the fear of Civil War imminent back home, William must make the ultimate choice between his irrevocable duty and love, sacrificing everything he believes. But as a hidden menace emerges to secure a vested interest, and impossible odds begin to mount against them, William and Sydney wonder if a connection between two Star-Crossed lovers is enough to save them from destruction.

Interview with Braxton Cosby, CEO of Cosby Media Productions

IMG_0897

(As previously seen on the HelaWrite blog.)

Any smart entrepreneur or business person alike knows that in order to succeed and further one’s career, it’s wise to take advice from other entrepreneurs/business owners. I find that interviewing successful and creative people is the fastest way to learn about how they think while learning from their triumphs and failures.

Today, Dr. Braxton A. Cosby is a guest on my blog, and he’s here to share about his new company, Cosby Media Productions. As the CEO of the company, there is much he is responsible for, but I really wanted to pick his brain in regards to what prompted him to start the company in the first place. So, grab a cup of coffee and read on.

CMP TM1000

1. Tell us about your company, Cosby Media Productions. What does your company do, etc.?

BC: Cosby Media Productions is a full-service entertainment company that focuses on new intellectual properties in the areas of management, print/digital books, music, television, and film. New content is already in the works with networking and partnership opportunities available for future endeavors. It was developed by me, the CEO, and my partner, Leon Cosby III, who is the acting COO. We truly endeavor to build and partner with other content creators to make fabulous entertainment in the same scope or even larger than the blueprint that my Uncle Bill Cosby started.

2. What prompted you to start this company?

BC: The lack of original content available for people. There is something missing in today’s entertainment. Good, original, family content that inspires people. I love stories that offer encouragement and display good role-modeling for young people to follow. I’m excited at the prospects of how well-received some of the many projects we have in development are.

3. Is it difficult to manage a company like this? What are some of the biggest struggles you face as a business owner?

BC: Not really. Leon and I make the tough decisions of deciding who we partner with, and I have the final say so on what content we run with. Bringing on partners who we feel we can trust to pass on managing one facet of the company is tough, but we believe in those people. So, with God’s help through prayer, we walk in faith.

4. What are some of the benefits of owning your own company?

BC: Building and controlling you own content. We love the fact that once we get these projects funded, we will be able to keep the originality and purpose of the content intact, without compromising the messaging.

5. What kinds of projects are taking place at CMP right now?

BC: We have 5 divisions: management, film, tv, print and music. We have just finished completing deals that will ensure that our print and music divisions get the authors and singers the attention they deserve, and we are shaping out the animation and live action film and tv projects for first tier development. Action, story, and messaging are our focus, and it is paramount that they blend together smoothly.

6. Is there a “dream project” you’d like to work on?

BC: PROTOSTAR. I really want the trilogy to make it to the big screen and it will. But, it will require time to bring the pieces together.

I’d like to personally thank Braxton for taking the time to share a bit about his company and his heart behind the creation of Cosby Media Productions. Also, DID YOU KNOW? I am the Chief Editor for Cosby Media’s Print Division. We have already put out some great books this year, and are looking forward to the future projects for 2015! 🙂

broken1

Synopsis for Broken Prince: Spurred on by the desire to forge his own destiny, Prince William Derry seeks to complete his bounty hunter training by taking out a strategic target on the edge of the star system that could quell the undercurrent of uprising against the Torrian Alliance. To do so, he must collaborate with objectionable characters and trust his wits rather than his training in an effort to gain his father’s confidence. His resolve is tested when he is forced to make a decision that threatens to shatter the foundation of his identity, risking not just the mission, but the lives of those involved.

Follow Prince William’s origin story into bounty hunter status in this prequel to the incredible Protostar, the first novel in the Star-Crossed Saga.

proto3

Interview with Braxton Cosby:

1. Why did you decide to write Broken Prince?

BC: I felt that it was necessary to write Broken Prince after I completed Protostar so that readers could get a better feel for William before he arrives on Earth. The origin story had purpose behind it so that those who read Protostar would be able to understand why William made the decisions he did. Readers would also be able to get a better feel about the relationship between William and his father King Gregorio. This story gives you a good feel of William’s personality from a weaker, softer vantage point when he is thrown into the unknown.

2. What kind of feedback have you received from readers in regards to Broken Prince?

BC: People seem to be enjoying it. For the most part, they are really hungry to dive into Protostar now, which was the goal of releasing the novella when I did. They love the action elements and the developing story arc.

3. Has writing become any easier since you have written more books?

BC: Things really flow a lot more smoothly now. I can bang out more stories quicker and I see them unfold more fluidly. I can’t wait to finish one book and move back into the other.

4. What are you currently working on?

BC: Working on the sequel to my current novel The Windgate. The next book is really coming together well and I can’t wait for people who read and enjoyed the first one to see how the characters develop. The storyline is getting a lot of attention so that readers are pulled in from the beginning and are rewarded for finishing it.

5. What will be your next release? Can you tell us a little about it?

BC: I have a couple of autobiographies that I am working on right now with two celebrities. It’s still kind of a “hush” situation, so I can’t give out too many details, but a press release is in the works and will be on the Cosby Media Productions website very soon.

6. What do you hope will be a takeaway for readers of your series?

BC: The experience of life. I hope readers feel what the characters go through. The story has to read believable. Even though there are Sci-Fi and paranormal elements, I would like to think that readers are pulled in so far that their reference of reality is suspended. I also want them to anticipate where the series may go next and then read the next one. Hopefully, I’ll be able to avoid the predictable road and give them just a few surprises along the way.

My Goodreads Review of Braxton Cosby’s The Windgate (School of Ministry #1)

The Windgate (The School of Ministry, Book 1)The Windgate by Braxton A. Cosby

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

*I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review*

The School of Ministry: The Windgate by Braxton Cosby is a story of hope, courage, and perseverance—qualities we could stand to have more of in the world. Cosby is a very gifted storyteller and provides great action throughout the novel. Though the SOM series is categorized as YA, I also believe it could fit into the New Adult genre, especially with the ages of the characters and themes of the book.

The main character, Ziv, is a very likeable character whom readers will come to care about, wanting to know what is in store for him after each challenge he faces. The other characters are very interesting and when one of the “bad guys” is revealed—I must say that I did not see that coming. Therefore, Cosby does an excellent job of creating mystery and intrigue throughout.

At times, there was so much detail—for my taste—that it took away from the action. However, this story, as a whole, was a fun and entertaining read that made me excited to get to the end.

The ending of The Windgate was executed well, leaving me satisfied but also in understanding that there are still unanswered questions and more adventures ahead for Ziv and his companions. Overall, The School of Ministry: The Windgate is a great read that provides a new perspective on Christian themes through the avenue of literary fiction. I look forward to the next installment in this series.
