My WIP: Feast Island Prologue

Thought I’d let everyone take a peek at my WIP: Feast Island. It’s a YA Fantasy novel, nearing completion. This novel is book one in a series of eight. The series is titled “Spirit Lake”. Below is the prologue. Enjoy!

Prologue: A Rumor
In the days where evil sat on the throne of the universe and dark magic shrouded Cantelia like a mist, people and other beings alike had long ago dismissed the belief that hope existed. Even remembering the days of light instead of darkness was too hopeful. Faith was as foreign a concept as the word itself.

As long as Diegen, the land’s gruesome and lethal ruler, was pleased by the ceremonial sacrifices of flesh and the population remained stagnant, no one expected more than everyday events to happen. All stayed close to home, paid tribute to the one whose name sent chills down their spines and didn’t hold their breath while wondering if they would live to see the next day.

There was something that couldn’t be ignored though—no matter how much he tried to shut it out. The Prophecy. The only ray of hope that someday soon, the evil days would cease their hold on the land and peace would return. Though it was absolutely forbidden and dangerous to speak of such a thing, hushed and secretive murmurs passed from neighbor to neighbor.

There were rumors of a sort of secret society—a brotherhood—that kept the prophecy alive and well. A group of brave and noble souls who risked their lives just to meet and scrutinize every detail of the ancient scroll held sacred. They knew redemption and justice were near, which would both be products of the prophecy fulfilled. It was now only a matter of time until the young saviors appeared. They would be watching and waiting, ready to fight alongside their redeemers for their freedom as soon as the time had come.

Maybe I’ll post another “teaser” for Teaser Tuesday! Stay tuned for more…
